Smiley Statement on Russian Invasion of Ukraine

PASCO, WA – Veterans advocate and U.S. Senate candidate Tiffany Smiley (R-WA) issued the following statement concerning Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

Tiffany Smiley said: “This morning we awoke to the news that Russian President Vladimir Putin had invaded Ukraine under the pretense of ‘peacekeeping.’ President Putin has been emboldened by the shocking lack of leadership President Biden has shown over the past year. President Biden has failed to project US leadership internationally and authoritarian governments are now flexing their muscles in an attempt to expand their borders.

These events taking place overseas aren’t happening in a vacuum. They will have direct, tangible effects on Washingtonians. The Biden/Murray inflation that has been hammering Washington families will only get worse as a result of today’s invasion. Russia is the world’s leading exporter of gas, and today’s invasion has already caused fuel prices in Europe to spike. President Biden’s foreign policy failures will cost hard working families even more when our already high fuel prices begin climbing at an even faster rate.

President Biden has projected nothing but weakness over the past year- from the disastrous pullout of Afghanistan, to failing to take consequential preemptive measures to prevent an authoritarian regime from invading another sovereign nation. America must reassert her position on the international scene, and that begins with strong leadership in Washington D.C.”
