PASCO, WA – Veterans advocate and U.S. Senate candidate Tiffany Smiley (R-WA) issued the following statement in honor of Veterans Day.
Tiffany Smiley said: “Today we honor the men and women who served in defense of our nation, our values, and our people. To my family, Veterans Day is not simply another day on the calendar, but a day we remember the sacrifice my husband and his fellow soldiers and sailors made on the battlefield in our defense. It is because of their tireless efforts that we have the privilege of living in the greatest nation in the World and enjoy our God-given rights and freedoms each and every day.”
“For too long, too many in our government paid lip-service to the sacrifice of our men and women in uniform. Too many of our returning heroes were not given the support they earned and deserved. I was proud to see our nation turn a corner in providing care for our nation’s veterans, and it is my vow to ensure that we never turn back, we never again leave behind those who served. Let us use this day as a reminder that those who sacrificed the most for us deserve the most from us in return,” concluded Smiley.
Following the severe wounding and blinding of her husband Scotty at the hands of a suicide bomber in Iraq, Tiffany Smiley took on her husband’s cause – and the cause of all veterans – to fight for meaningful VA Reform. Tiffany took on the VA and won, and was a leading proponent of the Trump Administration’s Veterans Administration Reform. Today, as a candidate for United States Senate, Tiffany continues to make the plight of our nation’s veterans a key tenant of her platform and top priority when elected next November.
