International Franchise Association Endorses Tiffany Smiley for U.S. Senate
KENT, WA – The Smiley for Washington Senate campaign today announced that it has received the endorsement of the International Franchise Association (IFA). Tiffany Smiley (R-WA) is among four U.S. Senate candidates to receive IFA’s endorsement this month “for their leadership on pro-business policies supporting America’s locally owned franchise small businesses.”
“These candidates have proven that they are champions for America’s local franchise small businesses,” said IFA President and CEO Matthew Haller. “Local franchises are engines for growth in communities around the nation, and we need leaders that prioritize creating an environment for these entrepreneurs and their 8.2 million employees to grow and thrive.”
As a small business owner herself, Smiley is committed to fostering a low-tax and regulatory environment in which every American business has the opportunity to thrive. As part of her “Agenda for Economic Recovery and Reform,” Smiley would prevent the IRS from harassing small businesses and middle-class families with the 87,000 agents they plan to hire to investigate American taxpayers. She has also proposed a permanent extension of the 2017 tax cuts for the middle class.
“It’s an absolute honor to receive the International Franchise Association’s endorsement,” Smiley said. “As our country is headed toward an economic recession, I will do everything in power to support America's small businesses – including the 775,000 franchise businesses across the country – to ensure they are able to stay afloat during these uncertain times. Small businesses are the backbone of our economy, and I will always prioritize their success as I serve in the Senate.”
Established in 1960, IFA works to protect, enhance and promote franchising and the approximately 775,000 franchise establishments that support nearly 8.2 million direct jobs, $787.7 billion of economic output for the U.S. economy, and almost 3 percent of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP). IFA members include franchise companies in over 300 different business format categories, individual franchisees, and companies that support the industry in marketing, law, technology, and business development.
